Dreamtime: Spinifex is a species of grass that is found in wet areas usually on the coasts. The grass is native to Australia and grows about 30cm tall. The roots of spinifex grass are very strong and go quite deep into the earth. The edges of spinifex are sharp and can produce cuts if you grab them forcefully. If you live on the coast you may have seen spinifex grass before, it is the grass that sits on top of the sand dunes at the beach. Spinifex can also be found along the coast of other places like New Zealand and New Caledonia. Spinifex grass is important as it stops sand blowing away. The powerful roots keep the sand in place. Spinifex is often deliberately planted on the front dunes to stop the beaches from eroding (wearing away).

I purchased a yard of 100% cotton fabric called streets of fire. It’s perfect for my next project. Nice weight to fabric and it was packaged very nicely.

Placed order and was told after it was shipping that this item wasn’t available and I’d have been refunded. I ordered from this shop to bundle all of them and save on shipping. Had I known only 1 of the items was available I’d have canceled the order but was never given an option since it had already been given a shipping label. I also wasn’t told which of the three items I would actually be getting so I could shop elsewhere.

The quality of the material and design was beautiful. It held up very well in the wash as I washed it first before cutting and adding to my veterans quilt, which I’m making for my brother. So very glad I ordered this. Trust me, you will not be dissatisfied with your purchase!
